Similar to ATX based ceramic artist Rick Van Dyke, Lynn Wilkes Armstrong makes her clay creations unique both in the forms she molds and the patterns she imprints. Through travel, she likes to collect a wide range of antique lace scraps that she repurposes to create delicate textures and motifs on either terra cotta or porcelain. Depending upon the base material of choice, she may let the natural earthy color show through or add lightly tinted glazes to offset the patterns in artful ways. Lynn also uses stamps, anything from the traditional to handmade to found objects like seashells. By mixing patterns on pots, bowls, mugs and more, this artists succeeds in making art functional, pieces for use or display or both. When she's not shaping clay, she's shaping future talent in both public and private art lessons.
