I feel a special kinship to Graphic Designer Kate Pemberton of Curious Prints. She too is a collector with an inquisitive mind and a love of discovery. Much like I use this blog to let people know about local creative talent that inspires me, she has launched her own Arts & Crafts line to offer people a new take on vintage prints that she's been amassing over the years. After exploring the world of these brilliant, but often dated illustrations, she decided to share them with others around her so they can also enjoy their beauty. With a background in graphic design, she has the perfect skill set to retouch and revive these prints in a way that makes them new again. Her areas of interest range from biology and botany to anatomy and astronomy. Once she has found an image that catches her eye, she scans it into her computer and works her magic. From there, the reborn illustration is printed on paper, canvas or other materials to be turned into home goods. For Kate, these works make wonderful decor with a nod to your nerdy, curious side. We all have one, even if we don't want to admit it! Take a look at the Curious Prints selection! You're likely to find many a fascinating design you'd be happy to show off. I too agree that diagrams can be art as much as art can be didactic!
