One look at the work of Eya Floyd, and I immediately want to take a walk in her imagination! What a fantastical and colorful place it must be! While she is practiced in many arts, her area of focus these days is painting and illustration. She dreams up many amazing characters and story filled scenes that she then brings to life in her own unique style. Every piece is vibrant with color which makes them pulsing with life. Take a look up close at any piece and you'll see an incredible mix of shades, strokes and lines that brings the whole work together. The figures she portrays are often whimsical, whether animals acting like people or people with a hint of animal. She even has a fabulous line of invented creatures inspired by her name Eya, elegant birds with eyes in place of their bodies. The meaning is up to your own interpretation, but I like to think of them as birds with amazing insight!
