Bryon Sutherland is a very talented glass artist who turns every blown piece into a wonderfully colorful sculpture. He developed his chosen technique in school and has coupled that with careful study of the natural environment around him in his home state of California, specifically the geologic formations, ocean tides and climate along the coast. He explores a wide range of subject matter, from flowers and fruit to more abstract shapes full of movement. Whatever the form his work takes, it is the melding of vibrant and complementary hues that move me the most. I'd liken him to famous glass sculptor Chihuly, except he is unique in the way his glass opens in odulating forms and colors. It was hard to get a bad picture of these pieces. I would love to have any one on display in my own home.
