Giving Glass a Second Life as Fanciful & Functional Artsy Homewares.
Artist: Mollie DoyleAustin Crafter Mollie Doyle is masterful at making functional art that looks simple and beautiful, despite the actual number of steps in her process. What starts as a plain glass bottle results in something you can use and display with pleasing color and pattern. Mollie hand cuts stencils to leave a negative image of anything from leaves and flowers to butterflies and marine life. With her level care and attention to detail, each image is crisp and clean, artfully offset from the glass with fun colors of paint. Some of her work leaves clear glass where the cut out was and others feature a second shade of paint shining through. What a clever idea to upcycle something as abundant and multi-purpose as the glass bottle! Even more clever is the wide range of new uses that Mollie has come up with thus far: Dispensers, Vases, Ring Dishes, Spice Jars and more.
