Maybe it's just me, but it seems like a lot of men's clothing brands focus on simple colors and patterns, as if guys don't want to make a statement with what they wear. That could be the easiest strategy to please a broad range of buyers, but with all of the amazing fabrics out there, why wouldn't you offer more unique motifs that say something about the wearer? Thankfully we have designers like Brooke Wilton of Flameless Shirt who recognize the need for more personality filled options for guys. Brooke hasn't always been in the apparel industry as it turns out, but I love how sewed his way into the market with confidence and bold button downs for men (and now women too). He does his best to find textiles that you're not likely to see others use, but that still hold a certain appeal for the right audience. His choices are very thoughtful down to matching the buttons to the theme of the fabric. Details like this are all a part of his style even if they are more subtle than the outspoken pattern they're coordinated with. His shirts are casual, but quality made so in Austin you could wear them for most occasions. Everything in his line is handmade in his local showroom, and you'll often find him at art fairs around town. Brooke deserves major kudos for identifying this gap in the market and giving guys a great way to express their confidence in who they are! Maybe that's a Rock and Roll classic or a Doctor Who fan. The array of choices keeps evolving as Brooke finds patterns to offer. Never wear a boring button down again!
