Who couldn’t use a bit more fun and fantasy in their life? Austin based Artist Amanda Cobb can come to your rescue with whimsical printed motifs to wear or display. Graphic Designer by day, Amanda spends her nights (and most of her other free time) screenprinting on anything from paper to apparel with designs inspired by all of her favorite aspects of life. You can easily see her affinity for fantasy and mythology as well as nature and other cultures in the cutout patterns she creates. I personally love how she pairs together each hue, usually focusing on two shades that work together with wonderful harmony - one for the ink and the other for the background, be it a nicely fitted shirt or frame worthy textured paper. There is a certain simplicity to her style, but nothing simplistic about the graphics she prints. Many of her motifs go through several iterations to get to one that is just right. Her design background and understanding of color theory shine through in each work. Of course, this is not just in the crafts she shares with the world, but also in her writings about anything from Art to Cooking to Books and more.
